2017 Nenue and Kala Fishing Tournament

Family “N” Friends 2nd Annual Fishing Tournament

All fishermen interested in catching nenue and kala fish have a chance to show off their skills in the 2017 Nenue and Kala Fishing Tournament sponsored by A & P Payless Auto Parts/Fishing in Nanakuli.  Rules and details are as follows:

Nenue Fishing Tournament

  • 3 pounds or larger to qualify.
  • Hooked from shorelines of Oahu.
  • Fresh, not frozen.

Kala Fishing Tournament – Kala must be at least  14 inches in length.

Entry Fees

  • Category 1 – $20 Largest Nenue.
  • Category 2 – $10 Largest Kala.  Must enter Category 1 to play Category 2.

Sign-in

  •  9:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2017 – 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
  • Location at A&P Payless Auto Parts/Fishing Supplies, 87-1784 Farrington Hwy, Suite 10B, Waianae, HI 96792.
  • For more information, phone or text Gary at 808 668-7229.

Start Fishing: 5:00 P.M. Friday, March 3, 2017.

Weigh-in 

  • By 12:00 Noon Sunday, March 5. 2017,  to qualify.
  • Daily at A&P store during normal business hours.
  • Tie Breaker: first fish to weigh in wins.

Category 1 prizes

  • 1st Prize – 13′ Nitro Ulua Pole and Seagate 30 Reel.
  • 2nd Prize – Penn Battle II Reel.
  • 3rd Prize – Shakespeare Wild Series Pole.
  • Each participant may win only one prize.

Category 2 Prize – Number of entries determines cash prize – Winner Takes All!

Pat Pang (Nozaki) is a retired DOE secondary school teacher who taught school in Waianae for almost 40 years. She has served the community as a member of the Waianae Neighborhood Board and as a delegate to the 1978 Hawaii State Constitutional Convention. She was raised on the Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead and resided in Waianae during her years as a teacher.
