Ark of Safety offers Waianae Easter egg hunt extravaganza

Every Easter season the Ark of Safety Christian Fellowship, led by Pastor Jay Amina, sponsors an egg hunt for its members and invites everyone in the Waianae community to participate. This holiday celebration will happen on Friday, March 29, 3-9 P.M. and on Saturday, March 30, 2-9 P.M. at the Waianae Intermediate School located at 85-626 Farrington Highway. There will be four egg hunts – a neon egg hunt on Friday evening and three separate ones on Saturday. The neon egg hunt  starts at 3 P.M.; the three hunts on Saturday are for three age groups:  ages 2-4 at  2 P.M. , ages 5-7 at  5 P.M., and 6 P.M. for ages 8-11. Egg hunt winners have a chance to win prizes such as bicycles, boogie boards, and radios as well as “goody bags.”

This year marks the fourteenth annual egg hunt that the ministry has sponsored. As in the past, there will be other  fun events for children such as Keiki Fun Rides, rock-climbing, and giant bouncers. Live music and entertainment throughout the two-day event will be performed by these artists: Jeff Rasmussen, Cultural Nation, Nesian Nine, Kawao, and Crooners Inc. Local Waianae food vendors will offer snacks and meals to hungry egg seekers. Other vendors will be located in the Market Place which will sell various crafts, art work, and house a health center. In addition, church members will distribute food to the needy and offer a Country Store to people who wish to pick up household items and clothing free of charge.

Free bus shuttles are available for those who wish to attend. The buses will be marked with a special banner, “West Coast Easter Egg Hunt.” The  bus schedule and routes are as follows: Friday, March 29, 2-7 P.M. – starts at Ka Waihona School Bus Bay in Nanakuli, will travel along Farrington Highway, turn into the Waianae Mall, return to the highway, and turn around at Makaha Marketplace. Bus service on Saturday, March 30, will be 1-7 P.M., using the same route.
