Fall and winter 2014 activities for Nanakuli High and Intermediate School

Nanakuli High School Performing Arts Center Provides Holiday Entertainment

Nanakuli High and Intermediate School submits an exciting fall and winter calendar of events for its 2014-2015 school year.  Here are the activities for the months of September through January:

September

15 – Hawaii Pacific University guest speaker, 2:20 P.M., room CTL

18 – Senior cap and gown ordering date.

18 – ASVAB, 8:15 A.M., library.

20 – JROTC car wash at Waianae Store.

22-26 – Homecoming Spirit Week.

24 – UH West Oahu guest speaker, 1:13 P.M., room CTL.

26 – Homecoming

  • Pep rally, 1:23 P.M., gym.
  • Homecoming parade, 4:00 P.M., from Pua Avenue to NHIS.
  • Homecoming football games with Pearl City Chargers, JV at 6:00 P.M., varsity game to follow.
  • Homecoming court presentation during varsity game halftime on the football field.

27 –  Homecoming Dance for NHIS students, grades 9-12, 7:00-10:00 P.M.; parental permission form and ID required.

October

3 –  End of 1st quarter.

6-10 – Fall Break – no school.

13 – 2nd quarter  begins.

15 – PSAT/NMSQT, 8:15 A.M., library.

15 – Student Council meeting, 1:13 P.M., library.

18 – Band car wash at Waianae Store..

20-30 – Clothing and toiletry drive.

22 – Teacher Institute Day – no school.

24,25 – Nanakuli Performing Arts Center (NPAC) production, 7:00 P.M., Multi-Purpose Building (MPB).

26 – NPAC production, 3:00 P.M., MPB.

28, 29 – Yearbook picture-taking for faculty, staff, grades 7-11, clubs, and organizations.

30 – College application night, 5:00-6:30 P.M., location TBA.

31 – Professional Development Day for Nanakuli Complex – no students.

November

4 – Election Day – no school.

5 – NHIS  Blood Drive, 8:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M., room C-113.

11 – Veterans Day – no school.

12 – Student Council meeting, 1:13 P.M., library.

14 – College and Career Fair, 8:30-11:00 A.M., 5:00-8:00 P.M., Neal Blaisdell Center.

18 – Yearbook picture retakes/make ups.

20 – Assembly for canned food drive.

21, 22 – NPAC production, 7:00 P.M., MPB.

23 – NPAC production  3:00 P.M., MPB.

26 – Music with a Message, lunchtime, MPB.

27 – Thanksgiving Day – no school.

28 – School holiday.

December

1-12 – Holiday door decorating contest.

10 – Student Council meeting, 1:13 P.M., library.

11 – Brown Bags to Stardom talent contest, 1:23-2:14 P.M., gym.

19 – End of 2nd quarter/1st semester.

20 – National Honor Society car wash at Waianae Store.

December 22- January 8 – Winter Break – no school.

January

9 – Teacher Work Day – no students.

12 – 3rd quarter begins.

14 – Student Council meeting, 1:13 P.M., library.

19 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – no school.

21 – Blood Drive, 8:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M., room C-113.

January 26- February 13 – Penny Wars to support Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Pat Pang (Nozaki) is a retired DOE secondary school teacher who taught school in Waianae for almost 40 years. She has served the community as a member of the Waianae Neighborhood Board and as a delegate to the 1978 Hawaii State Constitutional Convention. She was raised on the Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead and resided in Waianae during her years as a teacher.
