Matt Bowden from Once Again Hawaii will be here to teach us all about succulents, the “un-thirsty” plant. Once Again Hawaii creates small gardens of succulents or other easy-care plants in “re-purposed” vessels like old teacups, dishes and re-purposed wood. There will be plants and repurposed items available to plant and take home as part of the program, one plant per attendee. Join us to learn about these hardy plants, then take one home and practice your new skills.
September is Library Card Sign-up Month
Having a library card is super cool according to Snoopy, the Honorary Chair for Library Card Sign-Up Month 2015. Waianae Public Library is a cool place as well. Come in a get your card today. Your first card is free; all you need is a valid photo ID and proof of your mailing address if it is not listed on the ID. For those super cool kids out there that would like a library card, have a parent take you to the library and fill out an application-remind them to bring their valid photo ID and proof of mailing address. All children are eligible for a card as long as they can write their first and last name.

“A great library doesn’t have to be big or beautiful. It doesn’t have to have the best facilities or the most efficient staff or the most users. A great library provides. It is enmeshed in the life of a community in a way that makes it indispensable.” From Dewey by Vicky Myron
