St. Rita’s Church Helps the Hungry

Father Alapaki Kim, pastor of St. Rita’s Church, is continuing to help the poor and hungry in Nanakuli. Started by Father Eli Carter 20 years ago, the program serves people from Honokai Hale to Makaha. The church offers a food pantry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9-11 A.M. Parishioners serve a hot meal to the needy every last Thursday of the month at the church. Volunteers cook, donate, and serve the lunch meals to anyone who comes. The majority of the people who attend are the homeless who live across the church at the beaches. They can receive donations of clothes and other personal necessities along with the hot meal.
