Family “N” Friends Fishing Tournament

All boaters and fishermen interested in winning cash prizes for their catch will want to join the Family “N” Friends Fishing Tournament on Saturday, May 17, 2014, starting at the Waianae Boat Harbor at 5:00 A.M and ending at 4:00 P.M. The last day to enter this competition is May 1, 2014, but hurry – space is limited! Entry fee is $250.00 per boat.

Prizes for the winning catch will be given in these three categories:

  • 1st     Grand Prize:     $2,000.00    Total Weight*
  • 2nd   Marlin                $1,500.00
  • 3rd    Ahi                   $1,500.00

Your catch will be weighed with these requirements:

Qualifying Fish:                    Minimum Weight:

  • Marlin ———————- 50 lb.
  • Ahi ————————– 40 lb.
  • Mahimahi ——————15 lb.
  • Ono ————————- 10 lb.
  • Aku ————————- 10 lb.

* = Total Weight category requirements: Total catch must meet the minimum weight of 100 lb. and only qualified fish will be accepted at weigh-in.

Pat Pang (Nozaki) is a retired DOE secondary school teacher who taught school in Waianae for almost 40 years. She has served the community as a member of the Waianae Neighborhood Board and as a delegate to the 1978 Hawaii State Constitutional Convention. She was raised on the Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead and resided in Waianae during her years as a teacher.
