Nanakuli-Maili Neighborhood Board No. 36 Meeting Discusses Homelessness

The Nanakuli-Maili Neighborhood Board No. 36 will recess in the month of December. The next meeting is on Tuesday, January 15, 2013.

Their Housing Committee will meet on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at St. Philips Episcopal Church Meeting Hall, 87-227 St. John’s Road, starting at  7 P.M. The first order of business for the evening will be the nomination of committee members. For old business the Housing Committee will continue to discuss efforts done for the homeless by HEART (Homeless Efforts Achieving Results Together). HEART involves the Villages of Maili, Ohana Ola, Building 36 Kalaeloa, Kahikolu `Ohana Hale O Wai`anae, Pai`olu Kalaulu, Onelau`ena Kalaeloa, Maililand, Onemalu, and other affordable housing projects. There will be an update on the 100,000 Homes Campaign. New business to be discussed are the LHCLegislative Report Update and the HICH (Hawaii  Interagency Council on Homelessness) update. The meeting will adjourn at 9 P.M.

Pat Pang (Nozaki) is a retired DOE secondary school teacher who taught school in Waianae for almost 40 years. She has served the community as a member of the Waianae Neighborhood Board and as a delegate to the 1978 Hawaii State Constitutional Convention. She was raised on the Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead and resided in Waianae during her years as a teacher.
