Parks and recreation top June priorities for Waianae Neighborhood Board meeting

New Business Groups Face Waianae Neighborhood Board

The Parks & Recreation Committee of the Waianae Neighborhood Board will meet on Monday, June 23, 2014, at Waianae District Park, 85-601 Farrington Highway. It will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room at 5:30 P.M. Chairman Cedric S. Gates will conduct the order of business for the evening. New business topics to be considered are:

  • Adopt-A-Park campaign.
  • Homeless encampment at Pokai Bay.
  • Leeward Coast Benefits Package.
  • Summer Fun Program 2015.
  • Makaha Beach Park erosion.
  • Mayor Kirk Caldwell’s park rating feedback.

Other committee business will be the nomination of committee members and announcements from Senator Maile Shimabukuro at 6:30 P.M. and from House Representative Jo Jordan at 7:00 P.M.

The meeting will last until 7:30 P.M. The public is invited to attend and participate in discussion and voice community concerns.

Pat Pang (Nozaki) is a retired DOE secondary school teacher who taught school in Waianae for almost 40 years. She has served the community as a member of the Waianae Neighborhood Board and as a delegate to the 1978 Hawaii State Constitutional Convention. She was raised on the Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead and resided in Waianae during her years as a teacher.
